Book of Dread Revision 1.85
I updated Book of Dread with a new (very minor) revision today on Kongregate.
I changed the branding from Biclops to Monstrum, and there’s a new item for those who’ve been clamouring for a challenge: Pandora’s Box!

yeah, so it’s pretty much a luck based fight (on extreme difficulty anyway). I mean some enemy combos are just nasty. Minotaurs for example are pretty much the most dangerous of them all. They aren’t too dangerous alone sure, but that maze move they open up can really screw you over when you’re fighting a 6stack of bosses. The dorf prince is another bad one to show up with his ability to cast shield wall on whoever (he prefers to cast it on hydra heads to make matters worse). It’s still fun though…Don’t expect good loot, you only get the same kinda loot as you do for floor bosses (the 1 epic+random blues/greens type deal), even if your box contained legendary creatures, you wont get any oranges.

@Ghaleon You should get appropriate loot. In my testing I could get two minotaur axes, some purples etc from one fight.

I got 1 purple both times. Maybe difficulty setting makes a diff? I’ll check later.

Normal difficulty gave me 1 purple and blues/greens too. Maybe it doesn’t work past a certain floor (every time I tried was floor 45ish). Not too big a deal though, if you can beat that box, you probably don’t need gear >=P

Beat the Box on Level 21. Warrior w/ shield in front row, Cleric (benediction), Ranger and Mage in the back. I buffed everyone with Snakes Blood Potions, Elixirs of Speed, and Elixirs of Protection. I also had a LOT of purples and oranges thanks to Legendary Lures.
I lucked out and pulled a Hydra (which takes up 3 blocks) along with Gorgon, melee orc boss, and a ranged deep creature boss. I got 2 oranges, a purple, and greens/blues as loot, for 6-8 items total.
SO MUCH FUN. Eagerly awaiting MD3!

Hrm… I fought and beat a second box on Level 26. Gorgon, 2 Orcs (ranged & melee bosses) 2 Dwarves (same) and cultist melee boss.
1 purple, 2 greens. Maybe the game only considers the first one special?

Ridiculously hard to beat pandoras box if youre unlucky enough to get spellcaster type bosses (i got 2 deep creature spellcaster bosses, 2 of the cultist melee tank boss guys, a minotaur, and a gorgon), and a gorgon and a minotaur. Pretty killer. didn’t stand much of a chance, barbarian+cleric+mage+ranger, all pretty much purple and oranges. damn. hardcore mode ftl :p

EEP! I wish I had my arch-angel class idea. He’d smite this box problem. With a Benevolent guardian then his undead attack.

Support bosses with group buffs and such are definately more deadly for the box than melee ones.

Hardcore makes no diffrence on such high levels of the game, as the item loss is just as fatal as a real game over,

I can not put my picture in the game why is that? oh yeah one time i played the arrows on the map disappeared and i could not see what was in the room i was going in and i could not see the info on the items i won after a battle.

You can only get that item, if you play MD BoD on Kongregate, eh? Duh, i played it on Freegames.de, and i just reached level 47 with my ultimate team (one warrior, one ranger and two mages with swords and encorcelled blade)
Taht’s either an excuse to start over, or a nice reason to quit the addiction.
But Gorgons and Minotaurs don’t do much against a Warrior with 99% defense, the worst combination would be armor ignoring ones, for example Exemplifiers with their annoyimg void cannons and those creatures, that cast Desintegration. Although two mages casting Power Siphon might prevent that, since they need a lot of Power for those moves.

Btw, using Pandoras Box in hardcore mode isn’t such a dangerous thing, just use a warrior with 30+ power regen for constant defiance, and make sure, that he can escape instantly. If the box isn’t used up after escaping (like the journeymans stone), you can even retry as long as you wish.

If you are in a not good position and have no money to move out from that point, you will require to take the credit loans. Because it should help you unquestionably. I take sba loan every year and feel good just because of that.
